Dog ate own faeces.

As the subject says, my dog decided to dine on its own faeces and i'm just wondering does this indicate something lacking in her diet or possibly something else? She's an 11 month old shitzu.

Shes fine.
Maybe give her a more varied diet, but copography is normal.

Unless it becomes an obsession, as it can for some, If it does, she will need to see a vet who will probably recommend an animal behaviouralist to get her out of the habit.

Cheers, she's only done it once, so I don't have to be too worried.

I have a lab and when I first got him he used to do this quite alot. I think it is something alot of puppies will do if they are left long enough with their faeces. Jude (my lab) just grew out of it but he used to eat the calfs dung also ( we lived by a field). There is no need to take them to behavioural class unless it ever did really continue on a long term basis. Hope this helps...
