Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i have a linksys wrt-54g and an alcatel speed touch home ethernet modem set up and eircom BB.

i have the router on pppoe with username + password ( under internet setup ) and then have dchp enabled to give out 2 ip addys .( under network settings ).

ps: i upgraded the firmware to version 2.02.7 and had nothing but trouble with it and have since downgraded the firmware to 1.42.2 and still have some issues with it , so if the router is working fine leave the firmware as it is.

I have a Linksys WAG54-UK. I set it up last night.

As said above, you use PPoE for your DSL connection, and then DHCP for internal addresses.

It should be very simple to configure.

Thanks guys , Paulw i spose you have to enable 'Bridge Mode ' in your dsl modem for the whole thing to work ?

No, you use either PPoE, PPoA or Bridged.

So, I'm not on bridged, but am planning to get Esat to move me to a bridged product soon. Bridged would have a fixed IP address.

These modes are for your DSL connection.

Your internal network (wireless and also wired) would be using DHCP.

Hmm , you have the same modem Paulw ? Couldn't connect out last night at my friend's place though i did use 'Auto - DHCP ' for the dsl conn so at least i know that's wrong . But after some searching here i was under the belief that i had to engage the zyxel modem in ' Bridge Mode ' as well .

So you saying that 'Bridge Mode ' is only for business connections with a fixed static ip ?

Bridge mode is for connecting to an RJ45 interface to a firewall or such. It simply passes on the data to the next device.

Yep, bridged is only for business accounts, with a static IP.

Jaden - Esat business accounts are bridged over DSL.

My Linksys WAG54G-UK allows - Bridged, PPoA, PPoE or Routed. But, you can only use one of these options.

So, for normal residential DSL, it's PPoE.

The cd based setup doesn't seem to allow you to configure for PPPoE as it seems to 'auto' detect your settings , tho of course you can do this manually thro the web based configurator . Strange i thought.

    Thanks for the info Paulw.

The web interface should give you a lot more configuration options.

With mine, there was only a quick install guide, while I downloaded the full userguide from the web. Much clearer info.

    Best of luck.

Right frustration beginning to settle in now  !!!

Configured PPPoE in the web configurator and still no joy ....put in username and password.

It says ' Host name and domain settings may be required by your ISP '
There is nothing in the Domain field is this right ?

In mine, I left hostname and domain blank.

I just put in my username and password.

I think for some services, the username is in the format - user@iolbb

    Hope that helps.

yep , username is of that form...this has me completely stumped , feel right a real thicko failing at even the first hurdle....:dunno:

Might be worth giving tech support a call.

I don't use IOLBB so I can't compare directly to you. Sorry.
