What I want to know though is
Who shot the sheriff (heh heh- nevermind the deputy), sherrif Brown is shot out near the Skeeter place after Vernon does a runner. Was it Lally?

I was pretty tired towards the end (couldn't put the thing down; I was up till' about 4 am -and my college final exams are on Monday :eek: ) so I may have just missed it, so if it was obviously stated in the book then I'm sorry for wasting your time.
