** Urgent Info needed about Passports **

Hi,

Hopefully someone here will be able to tell me some info about Passports!

I am travelling to New York tomorrow morning and I have just heard from someone I know that your passport has to be valid for 3 months before you travel. Mine runs out in 2 months, will I be able to travel tomorrow??? I have booked return flights and am just going for 1 week.

Any info would be great,

yeah i think its at least 90 days... for some other country's citizens going to the us, its 6 months...

as a last ditch effort.. get yourslef down to the irish passport office now... you can get it done in an emergency.... run....

If I were you I would go into the Passport office NOW...and tell them the story,they can help out and could have a new one today it happend to a mate of mine.But do bring the tickets etc so they no you are not taking the piss

Yes, get to the passport office now (Dublin & Cork), produce your tickets etc and they'll make you a new passport while you wait. It'll cost you E75 for a 10 year passport, and E50 for the emergency fee....

Cheers everyone. As I was flying around town to get photos, application etc I got a workmate to phone the Passport office and they said I would be fine if I had return tickets and if I was going for a week. Hopefully they are right!! Im sure they are. If Im back here tomorrow you will know I didnt make it!

actually yes they probably would.

But to be on the safe side just ring the American Embassy. What they said should be ok (you have proof you are leaving the US) but all you need is a customs officer having a bad day.
