Vets that specialise in lizards?

I need to bring my female leopard gecko to the vet as she has got a problem with her eye and in the last couple of days she's picked up some sort of injury on her head, I'm not sure if she got it through fighting with the male or whether she scraped her head off a rock...

Anyway, I've rang a couple of vets here in Westmeath and to be fair they're more agricultural vets, one even told me I'd be better off bringing the lizard to the Zoo

Could anyone recommend a vet preferably in Dublin City Centre or close by who might be able to help?

    TIA,

    viking

Here's a list of vets if u wanna ring round, might be pretty time-consuming though.
    Dublin vets

Here's a petshop on the Quays that specialise in reptiles, it's a very clean, well-kept shop, maybe you could ask them if they know of any vets that specialise in reptiles.

McElheron Reptiles, 15 Wellington Quay, Dublin 2
    T: 677 9060
    M: (087) 284 0654

Hope that helps and hope ur gecko is alright.

I know of two good vets that deal in reptiles I have used both & my Monitor, python & Iguanas are now in perfect health!

    Beirbre O'Malley - Bray 01-2723857
    John Bainbridge - Dundrum 01-2987510

I know that John Bainbridge only works limited hours & has 3 differn't practices I usually go to Bray - I found Beirbre to be a great vet.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers Guys,

I'll make the calls tomorrow and try and make an appointment.

BTW, anyone know why a gecko's eye might "crust" over?

I really hope im not to late but i posted before (about 2 weeks ago)about bringing leopard geckos to a certain vet who puts most of them down for no reason, but i wouldnt say a name.

So all i can say is id SERIOUSLY reconsider bringing it to that certain vet you are thinking of bringing it to.

Id ring either mc elheron reptiles or reptile heaven and ask them to recommend a vet with proper training in reptiles.

I had found a vet in a nearby town that said he had experience with lizards so I was going to bring her there. I happened to be in the Pet Shop in this same town at the weekend and mentioned I was bringing my lizard to the local vet, the guy warned me off completely from him and gave me the number of a guy who specialises in lizards in Dublin. I'm giving him a call today to see if he has any idea what the problem with the gecko might be.

    Thanks,
