specific Joyce question

i was wondering if anybody could answer a question for me?

im researching an aspect of the musical life in dublin in the 1800's and i have been told that joyce specifically refers to the 'Ant(/c)ient Concert Society' or the concert hall that they built on pearse st.

i have never read joyce, and have no idea where to start to look for this reference.

does anybody know where the reference is?

not 100% sure about specific reference (its been a while since i read it!) but check out 'The Dead' in Dubliners. lots of mentions of musical life in dublin.
also its an excellent book thats well worth a read.
