Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't want Owen to go. I think he'll stay if we get Champions League.

Why are we after another striker when clearly its a defender we need?

Because at least one striker is on his way I guess.

    Mike.

Apparently PSV are looking for Baros as part of the deal. Would be a shame to see him go, very talented player who never really got a chance to shine

Okay so if this is true we'll have

Owen, Cisse, Baros, Pongolle, Mellor, Kezman.

Thats six strikers presuming Heskey is sold. I alse heard that Mellor is off on loan again next season. So thats five. I would prefer any money left after Cisse to go on a defender like Mexas and a creative midfielder like Malbranque or Wright Phillips

If Baros is part of the deal thats five, Mellor should be given his head at Pool next season if only in the League Cup and off the bench, and yes to Mexas and Wright-Philips.

    Mike.

OI! You can forget about signing Malbranque, he belongs in Fulham!

I reckon we will need Kezman next season, We have Saint Michael but we know of his injury problems in the past, Cisse is coming in as a replacement for Heskey. Pongolle although he has played well when needed i dont think is fully ready . Ipswich are interested in taking Mellor on loan next season so that only leaves Baros. Every team needs four quality strikers and hopefully we will have that next season .. Saint Michael , Cissé , Kezman and Baros .. We also need a centre half , hopefully we get Mexes, also heard rumours about Mario Melchiot on a bosman as a possible signing for the defense. Hopefully we get enough from this clearout that is supposed to happen this season for an attacking midfielder .. Wright Phillips would suit the bill

I assume every team means Chelsea? They are the only team I can think of with 4 quality strikers. It should be 3 max, Baros doesn't deserve to be a 4th choice striker.

I think Owen leaving couuld be a good thing for liverpool, liverpool rely far too heavily on owen and he creates very little for other players. Sure he can go on a run or 3/4 games were he plays well and gets goals but overall I reckon liverpool getting cisse and kezman. However cant see them both going...when you think about it liverpool are so far off from being real contenders for the league. Saying that owen leaving would be of benifit to liverpool, should he leave on a free it would clearlybe a big loss to liverpools finances etc.

where is all this money coming from?

and about malbranque, why would he stay at fulham? their ambition has already been shown with the sale of Saha!

wright-phillips would be a super buy, mexes i would question his loyalty, and kezman ONLY if heskey was on his bike....

Fulham sold Saha very reluctantly and only because he was threatening to deliberately play badly. Saha and his manager handled they transfer very unprofessionally. Fulham wanted Saha to say he clearly didn't and got his way.

It was nothing to do with Fulham's lack of ambition!

And while we are talking Fulham Kezman has been linked with Fulham aswell.

Kezman comes across to me as a bit of a wanker. He's linking himself to every club under the sun. I wouldn't like to see United buy a player like that unless they were proven at the highest level.

Surely if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions league for the second season in a row, then they won't have much money to spend at all?
Although if Owen goes to Barca or wherever, that would then lead to them needing Kezman, Alan Smith etc......

Kezman is just trying to drum up interest in himself by linking himself with Liverpool.

Liverpool want Smith, and Heskey's going to Birmingham.

Either Baros or Owen will leave when Cisse comes. Probably depends whether they finish 4th or not.

Baros has been treated very badly again this season. Any time he's come on as sub in the last 6 weeks or so, he's still made the top 5 players of the game, according to the writers in the official Liverpool website. Yet still he can't force his way into the team, and often doesnt even get a run. He must be disillusioned.

Dear lord dont let smith anywhere near Anfield. No more than wehn Bowyer was linked to the club I hope it doesnt happen. Also I can see Baros leaving this summer regardless of signings i have an awful feeling he will be let go which will be an absolute travesty if he is.

I would have said Champions league would be the highest level.....Kezman has done well in the CL league in previous seasons, didnt think VanNistel was particuarly proven at CL or international level when he came to OT was he?? Cant remember...

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

Well maybe so... But that is just my opinion.

I just think if he was THAT good he would have clubs interested in him and he wouldn't be going around trying to find a club that will take him. Thats all. Van Nistelrooy attracted interest from clubs on the pitch, not off it.

Ah yeah i know he was well sought after, kezman is a good player tho, reminds me of forsell somewhat.....clean finisher, doesnt need alot of chances. God I remember being in OT when VanNistel came over, just before the deal was done....went to see united vs chelsea.
