    THE A.M.
(feat. Michael Tighe and Parker Kindred, both former band-mates of the late, great Jeff Buckley)
    Whelans, Wexford St, Dublin 2.
    Monday, June 21st ’04.

The A.M release their new single ‘Utopia’ on June 14th and have just confirmed an Irish date for Whelans in Dublin on June 21st.

The A.M comprise of Michael Tighe (vocals, guitar) and Parker Kindred (drums, vocals) – who were both band-mates of the late, great Jeff Buckley - and musical powerhouse Andrew Wyatt on bass and keyboards.

The band was conceived in September 2002. Their music is rooted in New York City but it’s a hybrid of the coolest records that inspired three generations. The sound is fresh, immediate and absorbing. You can’t quite place it but you feel the influences and swagger of Roxy Music, early Bowie and Prince.

‘Utopia’ is taken from their self-titled debut album, which was released the end of last year and received much critical praise.

Q Magazine: “The A.M. adopt latter period Buckley’s love of angular English rock, combining a Bowie style swagger with Stonesy riffing on songs that pack a big emotional punch.”

UNCUT: “A showcase trove of marvellously inventive guitar noise with moments of surprising intimacy.”

NME: “The A.M. buck the trend with skewed and poppy guitar pop.”

    Rocksound: ”Majestic… disconcertingly beautiful”

The Fly: “a brilliant debut album…dramatic and sensitively great”.

As part of their European tour, The A.M will be playing a string of select UK & Ireland dates that include their Irish show at Whelans.

Tickets for The A.M. at Whelans are €12 (inc. booking fee) are on sale now from Road Records, Soundcellar, Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide. Doors: 8.00pm. Special Guests to be announced.
