Do you intend to use the bike on the road or just on the field ?

well here's what i found. http://www.boom-trikes.co.uk/ it's the company that supplied the trike for the program. dunno if it's what you want but it's a start

The trike that Mark Evans built on Discovery H&L was the business.

Is it not illegal to use kit-built vehicles on Irish roads? or have I been misinformed?

i doubt it would be if you get it MOT'd before you use it.

you gotta get a lot of vintage-done up bikes MOT'd before you can take em on the road

tbh, what would concern me most is the insurance. I would imagine that if I rang either of the two motorbike insurers operating in Ireland tomorrow and said something like "I've got a kit-trike here, how much to insure it", I'll be told "sorry, we won't touch that with a barge pole". At least I know thats what Hibernian would say. Maybe Carole Nash have a different view on kit-bikes but I really would be amazed if anyone will touch it.

Yet another in a long list of reasons not to live in Ireland.

Try www.ironeagle.com they are a supplier of after market Harley compatible parts and other such stuff they do a "Custom Chrome" catalogue which can be ordered for around 10 dollars.

I have ordered loads of stuff from them before for my dads Harley, they are good and efficient and you could build your own Harley type custom bike from thousands of parts in the catalogue or they also sell a selection of bikes in kit form, plus the prices are usually about half of what you would pay for them from a parts supplier here.

The catalogue has prices in it, but on the website the prices are usually a little cheaper.

There are people around the Ireland who have built there own custom bikes and shops that do it too, see these links:

The motorcycle action group have some links and also have events where you might meet other people who have built custom cycles.

thanks for the replys and links. will have to order that catlalog!

it is a motorcycle we are looking at and not a trike, but trikes are well class....

never thought much about the insurance, as my dad would be driving- i know in england all self built cars\bikes have to pass a road worthyness test, i would assume its similar here... anyone know? and once you have that, then insurance shouldnt be a problem, i would think that C\N be the onlyu insurance crowd to touch it though....
