Hope this msg belongs here ...

I'll be going to France in a few weeks, and I want to connect my
laptop to the Net with GPRS via my mobile phone while I'm there
(which is something I do already here in the ould sod).
According to Vodafone support if I select the SFR network when I'm
there, it should just work as if I was at home, with no changes to the
GPRS settings on my phone (Siemens S45).

Does anybody have experience if this is actually the case? Does it
    work?

While I'm on the subject, it's no harm to have a fallback position.
Does anybody have details of dial-up numbers and passwords for French
ISPs? Failing that, any tips on how to get a short-term cheap (free?)
    dial-up account in France.

Yes to the first query. You use the same APN - ISP.VODAFONE.IE

It will actually work on most networks over there but SFR should be the cheapest.

No to the second query, don't have any.
