can u fix or replace a laptop screen? one half my friends laptop screen is cracked.

They can be replaced quite easily. Ebay can be a good place to pick up replacement screens. All the better if you can do your homework first and find out if the screen you need is used in other makes and models.

Same price as a new normal TFT screen. So 300-500 AFAIK

Nah, should be cheaper, no controllor card or casing involved.

Bit of a tangent, but does anyone know a supplier that offers flatpanel screens as thin as a laptop, but with the ability to accept a standard VGA input?

All the desktop screens are at least an inch thick, while the screen on my Sony Vaio is only about 1/3 inch thick. I'm looking for a very slim screen that can be mounted in a picture frame to hang on a wall (with concealed wiring, of course).

The Sony desktop TFT's are very thin.

You can even buy complete laptops sold as spares for as little as $60 on Ebay. Unless its extremely large or obscure, anything over EUR300 is simply obscene for a laptop screen.
