    Taken from Opeth.com
Opeth are confirmed to play the prestigious Download festival in the UK. The festival is located at Donington Park, the site of the legendary Monsters of Rock festival. The band will play on the 5th of June. More good news? Metallica are headlining! Check out www.downloadfestival.co.uk. This is one out of 2 festival appearances for Opeth this Summer, the other one being the Sweden Rock fest in the south of Sweden.

I decided to check out the line up and my jaw nearly dropped. what kind of stupid bull**** is this??

    Saturday Sunday

    Linkin Park Metallica
    Sum 41 Korn
    Iggy & The Stooges Slipknot
    The Hives Slayer (!?)
    The Distillers Machine Head
    Cradle Of Filth (!) Soulfly
    Moster Magnet Ill Nino
    Soil Turbonegro
    Opeth (!) Breed 77
    Dillinger Escape Plan

its an insane amalgamation of the heads of the commercialisation of metal: Kerrang!, Linkin Park, Metallica, Korn, Slipknot and many of the other talentless bums above.

what an insult to talented bands like Dillinger, Opeth and Filth to have be granted 30 minute slots in support of ****ing Linkin Park. it'l be funny (and a crying shame) that Opeth will only get play about 3 or 4 songs.

what also amazes me is Slayer and Machine Head on the same stage. Id love to see Rob Flynn and Kerry King have a fight. and why slayer arent right behind Metallica is beyond me.

Is it a line up based on record sales from last 2 years or something?

No offence, but Cradle have been long sucking the cock of the likes of Kerrang! and Metal Hammer.

While I certainly think it's ridiculous that Opeth are playing (And a little scared of the ramifications of that on the band's further musical output. After all, lets not forget that a kick-ass band like In Flames got a support slot with Slipknot, then suddenly turned into a nu-metal forerunner.) but it's nothing shocking that Cradle are playing, seeing as they've dual-headlined the Dynamo festival with Slipknot before, and are pretty much touted as the English equevelant of said Masked monkeys.

Slayer, they dont give a flying **** where they play at any festival, if its ten minutes or two hours, they always, ALWAYS blow the competition away.

Isnt there two stages at Donington? MH on one, Slayer on the other, and several hundred armed cops in between!!!!!
