Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well done to Valencia, overhauling the nine point lead Real had a month ago, now seven points clear themselves. One season, no trophies, guess Quieroz could be back at Man U faster than he thinks :)

Fair play to Valencia, I hope they go on and win the UEFA Cup now...

It's good to see Valencia win La Liga. Perhaps it might help convince Florentino Perez that paying for a decent defender would be the smart move.

well done Valencia. About time too. I think Real will have to do a major overhaul in the close season, considering how they fell apart in the latter stages and Barca are now back in the big time.

Ultimately it's a case of "Real is the Chairman, and the Chairman is Real".

If I remember correctly Quieroz wanted to buy two good central defenders (Thuram and W. Samuel I think) before the season statred but Perez was having none of it. Half the time they can barely manage to field a passable pair of centre backs and after selling Makalele (although they didn't have much choice) they lost their main source of midfield protection.

And loaning out Morientes and Flavio Conceicao didn't help their cause either.

In fairness, he was hardly going to play over Ronaldo and Raul anyway. The only problem was them meeting Monaco in the CL.

Anyway, I say well done to Valencia - they've proven that an excellent defense can win you a championship, no matter what attacking qualities the opposition have. I think they probably need another decent striker for an assault on the Champions League next season though. Mista has done well in terms of goals, but every time I see him play, I remain unconvinced. Better than John Carew though! :D
