Yep, HHF was the interval act, Jump The Gun represented us, and the English came 2nd. Ms. Dion became a cvntbag warbler then, if I keep that memory of 1988 I cant then say she was all bad.

Do you remember Secret Garden. There was uproar because there was hardly any words in the song.

The worst interval act had to be when aqua did it in 2001 as if the songs werent bad enough we had to endure every aqua song in existance.

1982 It always seemed to be pouring with rain every time Nicole's "Song For Peace" came on the radio.

eleven pages not bad for the most reviled TV show on earth :D

This is a long post so it may have already being mentioned,

but good ol' RTE only started broadcasting in colour in 1972, because we won the eurovision and we wanted our EU brothers to enjoy it in "technicolour!". Think about it folks there was a man on the moon (actually more than one!) before ireland got colour TV.

Does anybody know the name of the group and song who represented Bosnia & Herzigovina (spelt wrong, I know!)? I loved the tune and would like to buy the CD. Yer man was SO camp, but it's a tune you'd certainly jump up and dance to at a wedding.

RTÉ reassessing You're A Star show

RTÉ has said that it is reassessing the 'You're A Star' show following the disappointment of the Irish result on Saturday night in the Eurovision.

An RTÉ spokesperson said the broadcaster was reviewing the series to ensure that Ireland performs as best it can at next year's Eurovision.

The spokesperson added that 'You're A Star' is a hugely successful programme for the national broadcaster.

Tonight Ireland's Eurovision entry Chris Doran will perform at a free open-air concert in Waterford to mark his return to the city.

Off the top of me head

just like a flower when winter begins
Just like a candle blown out in the wind
Just like a bird that can no longer fly
    Im feeling that way sometimes

But then as I'm falling Weighed down by the load
I picture a light at the end of the road
And Closing my eyes I can see through the dark
The Dream that is in My heart

A little loving A Little Giving
To build a dream for the world we live in
    A Little patience and understand
For our tomorrow a little peace

A little sunshine a sea of gladness
To wash away all the tears of sadness
A little hoping a little praying
for our tomorrow a little peace

I feel like a leaf in the November Snow
I fell to the ground there was no one below
So now I am helpless alone with my thoughts
Just wishing the storm was gone

A little loving A Little Giving
To build a dream for the world we live in
    A Little patience and understand
For our tomorrow a little peace

A little sunshine a sea of gladness
To wash away all the tears of sadness
A little hoping a little praying
for our tomorrow a little peace

We are feathers on the brease
Sing with me my song of peace

We are feathers on the breeze
Sing with me my song of peace

I was handed a CD with every eurovision winner in MP3 format from Lys Assia to Ruslana during the week

I bet they're just saying that to satisfy the public now, but will just churn out the same money making you're a star next year when we've all forgotten bout this year's debacle.

Even back in the early days, the lyrics were so terrible that the organisers actually put a limit on the number of times a song could contain the word "la".

Am not sure if this has been posted yet as I haven't the time to read all this thread...

Just to let yee Irish folke know that the Greeks are very annoyed at you for only giving 'Sakis Rouvas' 3 points. Apparently he could have won if you gave him more votes.

    Heh.

Don't be silly. That's like saying driving faster will win you the GP.

    Tch, those crazy Greeks...
