They seem to be doing regualr updates on E3.

This seems interesting (link), not sure if it will work :dunno:
Broadband is needed, so won't ever reach here.
The receiver for the Phantom Gaming Service can sit in any room in the home, connected to the TV and any broadband Internet connection, and be used by various members of the household at different times of day. The receiver hardware will be designed to deliver a compelling entertainment experience into the future, featuring the AMD(R) Athlon(TM) XP 2500+ central processing unit (CPU), the NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) FX 5700 Ultra graphics processing unit (GPU) and the NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM)2 Ultra 400 platform processor.

The Phantom Game Receiver will be produced in Asia by BIOSTAR(R), a leading Taiwan-based contract manufacturer, and will feature 256MB of main system memory and a 40GB hard drive. In addition, the receiver will come bundled with a gamepad, a mouse and the Phantom Lapboard, an extremely innovative peripheral that enables players to control games designed for keyboard and mouse usage as intuitively and with as much fidelity on the couch as they are used to in the office

That phantom yoke is old news. It was first mooted about 4? years ago and everyone thought it was a joke then. It still sounds like a joke now.

I heard about the Phatom about 2 years ago, but taught it was a just another console. They are trying to take a different approach to the console market. There is no point going head to head with Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo. Can't see the the Phantom working.

Most people thought it would never materialise - in fact I seem to remember Infinium Labs suing [H]ard|OCP over a number of stories they ran accusing it of being vapourware. A lot of the financial backers seem to think it has potential. Depends on how soon they get it out though. If it has to compete with the PS3 and XBOX2, its toast.

Read Penny Arcade, they've been ragging on Infinium's ass for so long its not funny. Seriously... who gives an outright n00b company with no backing and seemingly no idea about technology a chance against the (now established) XBOX.

Even Sony are worried ffs and their console exists!

    DeV.
