With all the new tech out there...What's a movie you'd like to be seen remade?

Highlander 2 but with different actors, a different plot, a different title and a different premise.

oh and Days of Thunder but as a reality tv type of thing.

movies shouldn't be remade, unless they are good films with bad actors, however most time it happens the other way round with the likes of tom cruise replacing anthony hopkins/

or Al Pacino(scarface 1983) replacing Paul Muni (scarface 1932),

of course movies should be remade, if they can be updated for a more modern audience ... fantastic .... or remade for a foreigh audience ... brilliant....

hmmmm...not mad about remakes myself but maybe Duel (1971). I'd imagine digital technology could spice up those chases!

Casino Royale, in a true to the book non-pisstake mode. It would completely rejuvenate the Bond series.

lol...ok there are definately some movies that should not be remade

I saw a movie last night that my nephew made me watch...The Neverending Story that could possibly be improved if there was a remake

    Dune

I thought Dune was already remade not to long ago...they also made movies out of the other books...I wasn't to impressed with the remake though, they made the main character look like a spoiled brat

    To Hell and Back (1955)

Its a great movie, it should be remade with all the new fangled ww2 special effects they can do now.

Willy Wonka. With Gene Wilder as Grandpa Joe. What a challenge.

He-Man...hmmm...now that would be an interesting remake...if it ever was remade I hope they have better writers than masters of the universe...and who would play He-Man? He would be a hard character to place

That is actually in production at the moment. Tim Burton is directing with Johnny Depp playing the title role.

It's probably going to be....a little strange :D

Alien 3, without Fox's damn meddling.

    Every Steven King book-film adaptation

Ugh, pretty much all of those are terrible ideas(with a few exceptions). Why bother remaking classic films when you know hollywood is just probably going to **** them up like it ****s up everything else. As a rule, remakes are pretty much always worse than the original. I defy you to name any two that are improved upon.
You may say it's good to bring films to a new audience, but not at the expense of what made the original great. If these "new audiences" want to watch the film, they can watch the original in all it's greatness. If they don't want to go to that effort, they can stick with Torque or XXX or whatever other piece of **** films are currently being churned out.
Why the hell would you remake Charie and the Chocolate factory? The original was perfect for what it was. I'm a big fan of Johnny Depp, and I'm sure he'll do well in the part, but he's not Gene Wilder, and in my mind could never be Willy Wonka. Tim Burton is a great director as well, but I just don't think it'll be an improvement on the original.

After carefull thought, I'd personally love to see The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen remade... And this time actually sticking to Alan Moore's work instead of dumping the entire plot for a big garbled mess of SFX that made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I think many 'League' fans would be with me when I say that they should've included the scene in the convent school where the ...Aheheh... "Immaculate Conceptions" took place. :D:D:D

    Ben Hur
    The Thing
    The Maltese Falcon
    The Fly

It's a rare thing though. A few schools of thought would add Heat, Sabrina, Cape Fear, High Society, Ransom, Oceans 11 or even the Magnificent Seven. I might consider the first three. Obviously some good movies are remakes of other things (for example, 12 Angry Men is a remake of a TV teleplay, Casablanca is a remake of a really really bad play)

I suppose I'm not allowed to add Airplane! as a "remake" of Zero Hour?:D Lots of the dialogue is the same.

very late edit: obviously in the secondary list I'm listing the possible improved versions rather than the ones "improved upon" as DL asked. Primary list too though there are no name-changes there

Id love to see an american version of La Haine. I think it wouldnt be as good, but ya never know!!!

And Battle Royale. I thought this was a great movie......the only problem being the subtitles and not being able to recognize any of the japanese kids because of them. As long as they didnt ruin it like they did with "The Ring".

I'd just like to hear them pitch the story to film execs these days!

    I can imagine the response:
Film Execs: "But where are the ipods"
"she comes from a homemade computer! is that hygenic?"
"......and she travels through the internet shooting gigabytes from her eyes. right!? im on the right lines?"

Yeah, I hated the original of heat, LA takedown, and resevior dogs is a huge improvement over City of fire.

Also prefer the American version of the ring, the original was scarier at the start but it was way too slow.

    Transformers. (with cgi maybe)
AI (cause speilberg ****ed it up)
They should also make a film about killing George Lucas.
Someone said Alien3 should be remade, I disagree, it thought it rocked. They just shouldnt have made 4 or they should have made it without sigourney weaver. She dies in the 3rd one, thats dead - as in not coming back for another movie . DEAD.
I dont see why you would remake ben hur. Heston Rocks - you wont wake a better version.
flash gordon could be acool remake, but I vote to keep the sound track.
weird science!, yea the origional tv show, from way back, hrm, yea there is some food for thought.
