win2k internet problem

strange problem on win2k, internet fine for 20 mins when i power up but then no internet connection, (i am on a work lan)

strange thing is i can ping any site fine even after 20mins, but explorer and mozilla can't load any site

disabling and enabling the network, after the 20 mins doesn't help, nor does logging out and then back in, only a re-boot wil fix it

no strange background tasks, and virus scan and adaware get nothing

is it an isolated problem (just you)?
are you conencting through a proxy?

its only on my pc, no proxy used

i am installing a few ms patches, might do the trick

this is strange, i decide to time how long it takes to disconnect, and noticed the network connection is timed, so..

played songs on yahoo music, and it stopped playing at 00:10:40

rebooted and it stopped again @ 00:10:40

and a third time @ 00:10:40


there is a lot of network activity when the pc is idle

no internet or intranet sites are working yet messenger works grand


i can ping any site and get a respond in 40ms

no scheduled tasks, or unknowen processes

sorted , there was a dial up connection setup, once i deleted it it worked fine
