    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had bought a new astra and what their thoughts were?

The missus is looking at the 1.7 tdi and it seems like a very nice car. Equivalent golf 1.9tdi works out a couple of grand more expensive for the same spec. We took both out for a test drive and I couldn't really separate them - she prefers the astra but I'm a little concerned about the resale value.

If i could afford one I'd get it in a second...

Went for a spin in a friends one and the windcreen seems a lot taller than the old model (a nice surprise for the tall )

It has superb handling, very generous leg and boot room for its class and is nice and heavy (think pothole absorption) don't know what the mileage is like but its probably on http://www.topgear.com under new car tests....

He's got the nice big star shaped alloys and it has some road presence ...reminds me a bit of the new mazda 3 with the back...

He's had his bout a month and no probs with it so far (except showing it off at every opportunity  )

Good luck wit it if u buy it

Thanks for the reply - I've seen most of the reviews and they have all been positive but its good to hear a real owners perspective.
