    Yes I think Bertie should address the Eurovision farcicle instead of focusing on more important national and international issues. Losing in this pop-competition will have a huge effect on the country and cause the economy to collapse.

    i think thats only when the ground floor is standing that the capacity is 8000...

    The eurovision would be a fully seated event, therefore less capacity downstairs...

    This is more than likely why westlife and other such bands play 50 million nights in a row at the point...

    I wasn't going to watch it but did in the end. Had a few drinks and had a good laugh.

    I enjoyed it because ...

    * it's so camp!
    * Terry Wogan is hillarious
    * the presenters usually make a complete pigs ear of it. This year was no exception. The ad libbing between the two had me in stiches.
    * the political voting makes the whole thing- although to be honest I still think the better songs came out at the top.

    The voting is actually good to watch ... it was nail-biting stuff really. Especially when u have money on it!

    What I can't understand about the Eurovision is why the f**k we Irish always end up taking it so seriously. I mean, all the other countries, every single one, recognises it as just a cheesy, have-a-bit-of-a-laugh-and-take-the-piss kind of contest. But we are the only country that seems to try and make it out to be more than it actually is. The Irish seem to actually think that it is a showcase for Irish musical talent, to show off our songwriting and singing talent to the rest of Europe. And, yes, that was the original idea of the Eurovision, but not anymore. Now it's just a cheesy, piss-take kind of thing. To see who can come up with the craziest, funniest, most ridiculous song and dance routine. People, it is not meant to be taken seriously anymore. It's just a laugh, a bit of fun. But us Irish still seem to be living in the 1970's here with our attitude towards it. "Oh yes, we must take it seriously as this is the perfect showcase for Irish talent." No it's not! It's not like that anymore. To all those people who seem to think the Eurovision is still a serious contest I say this; it's not. It's a laugh, a bit of cheesy fun. So drag yourselves into the 21st century, ditch the "serious" songs and sh!te ballads and make with the half naked, leather-clad dancing chicks already! :D

    And, for f**ks sake, stop taking yourselves so f**king seriously!

    Mike.

    Adriatic? How about we go the extra mile and ship this heap next to some begotten south Pacific atoll. No more Europe, no more Eurovision and no more Ukrainian belly-dancers, oops.

    Agreed! I was hoping we'd get nothing, I thought that it'd mean we wouldn't qualify for Eurovision and thus not have to endure a year of EuroPapstars. If they air that again, I shall be complaining in writing.

    Well theres a simple answer to that. Balaclavas, petrol, lighter and a small explosive. You free any evening soon?
    I blame Christie Malrys Own Double Entry for my current campaign of making anyone who has ever offended or just be a prick in my eyes pay for their crime.:D
