Could be speculation. Wal-Mart changed their date for Half-Life 2 to July 2nd on Monday morning.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,312 ✭✭✭mr_angry

In fact, the links to pre-order on the official Doom3 site say 26th of July. I assume they'd be the first to find out.

ID said doom 3 would be released this summer, my vote goes for june/july. *crosses fingers*

I wasnt really bothered but i tracking my free 9800Xts and they be here friday so kinda more looking forward to them now.

But from E3 stuff Hl2 will run fine on most newish cards and Doom will need that 9800 or higher to run.

Doom3 wasn't at E3 for the pc. It'll run on most cards, not only 9800+

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

    E3/NGC

The good word is you will need 9800/5900 or higher to get it running well.
I have Farcry running well on a 9200Se but it could run a lot better.

If you saw the doom3 trailer fromt he xbox version, it looked really, really good, and come on, if it runs that well on an xbox, its gonna have little to no problems on a 9800pro rig with half a gig ram or so.

Bah thats bull 9800pro will run it "well" at what res ? what detail ? etc etc 9800pros and the other mutts nuts card only make up a tiny precent of installed cards out there you can bet doom3 will run fine on the main stream cards like the 9600 and maybe even the 9200 on very low detail

Weird, i was only playing Halo before i came back online, and it runs beautifully on my PC, no slowdown, high FPS, with all gfx options on high. it really does look sweet.

As a note at E3 the 1st of september (my birthday YAY) was mentioned as the HL2 or doom3 release date, i cant remember which 1 i think it was Hl2.
It was in 1 of the shaky cam interviews.

There was no release date for HL2 mentioned at E3 and Doom 3 for the PC wasn't even there.

1st of september was definitely mentioned for HL2. But not as a certainty.

doubt it will be the 1st september, they'll release it on a friday if anything

Why on a Friday? So people can play it the full weekend?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,918 ✭✭✭Deadwing

All games get released on a friday. Dont ask me why, they just do!

Doug Lombardi or Gabe Newell didn't say it so frankly, it's bull****.

I heared from someone close to 'the industry' that Doom was more or less ready to go.. that the main reason for the delay was to let the new gfx cards get out there so that more people will be able to play it once it is released.

I also heared it's likly to be held back untill about september.

It's been aimed to have a GF4 as a baseline card, and enough people have GFfx/Radeon 9xxx cards to give it a good userbase.

it bloody better! thats all i got and wont be investing in a x800xT\geforce 6800 ultra extreme any time soon. dont see why it shouldnt be perfectly playable without all the eye candy if they can get it running fine on the xbox. Kind of defeats the purpose i know but still would like to be able to play it...:dunno:

Carmack was originally aiming to have it playable (without as much eye candy as you say) on a P3 700 with a GF2Pro.
He had to scale the graphics requirement up a bit, but it'll be there.
This should be one game that will really look perceptably better on a modern PC when compared to the XBox.

I've a P3 800 GF4Ti4800 768Meg, I fully expect to be able to play it when it comes out.
I'm specccing a replacement core (board, cpu, ram) just in case though :)

    September 1st of what year?

Amazon and ebgame have changed their release dates also.

An old forum member from TMT works for ID now as a level designer and wont give any damn hints to me about when its out (afraid i post it and he get sacked ...LOL) Just keeps saying soon.

If it is soon there should be a massive marketting campaign ordo ID think they dont need one.
