    When renting an apartment... wat do you expect from day one in regard to rights and documentation etc...

    eg? contracts... rent books... receipts....

    Expect to be asked to sign a lease. However, it is neither necessary nor universal to do so.

    A rent book will include all the important details that would be in a lease.

    As regards rights, once you sign and pay, it's yours. Keep paying and it stays yours (subject to the lease the landlord can give you one months notice). Take a look at http://www.threshold.ie/faqs.htm

    Expect landlords and their agents to do what suits them if they want.
