    More noob help needed!

    I find it very hard to ask this question but;

    Is this the same as cutting the cheese?

    If the answer is yes... which would produce a burning sensation?

    Would seeds in the mustard add anything to the sensation?

    V.

    There used to be a test of skill with a sword that involved slicing a mustard seed with one chop, very difficult to do because mustard seeds are really really small. Don't know if that's where it came from though ...

    I don't think it's the same thing.
    Cutting the cheese is farting... while cutting the mustard is more like doing something well.
    From Dictionary.com
    cut the cheese (Vulgar Slang)
    To expel intestinal gas.

    cut the mustard
    To perform up to expectations or to a required standard.

    If it were the same thing, I'd expect the mustard would be the burning one... as any of the mustard farts I've experienced (although extremely rare) have been very unpleasant ring-burn types.
