Has anyone heard of Firebird? I've been listening to their three albums (1, Deluxe & No.3) in advance of their Irish Tour and it's top quality Stoner Bluesy Rock. They're fronted by ex-Carcass/Napalm Death legend Bill Steer (although firebird sound NOTHING like either of those bands!). Great stuff altogether - they're in Whelans on the 31st May

Apparently they played a blinder in Cork last night (27th), they're in Limerick tonight (28th) Belfast on Sat 29th, Derry on Sun 30th & then of course Dublin on the 31st

Oh Man .... roll on tonight ... expectations are high .........

Right then, I've got reports that Firebird have played blinders right across the country in front of packed crowds, so hopefully tonight will be no different. Try and make it down people - it will be €8 well spent!

Indeed it was 8 quid well spent ... that guy is some guitarist .... f.uckin good band .... big fat arse , heavy blues riffs everywhere ... and the Rory Gallagher "Craddle Rock" cover was excellent .....

can't say the same for both support acts ... bleedin pants , the pair of them.

what was wrong with the supports? thought they all played very well

The first band , Revile , were so bland they make eating porridge and wallpapering sound like a great way to spend the weekend. The frontman was atrocious , no stage personality and a monotone voice - someone should tell him growing your hair long and standing in a "i'm cool" pose does not make a frontman ...... The drummer can't be playing that long cos he was actually outta time on a number of occasions , the the bass player and two guitarists were all pulling in different dirrections ... too self absorbed and not working on the song at all - the result was very , very bland ... not one memorable hook , line , lyric - nothing and their sound (probably not their fault as sound guys usually couldn't give a **** for support bands) was sh!te - very , very tinny.

The second guys , the 9's or whatever, had got a fuller sound and were better players but again , nothing new and an over reliance on a wha wha peddle to get his "spacey" effects .... there were like all the bad eliments of U2 , Linkin Park and someone else who I can't think of their names right now ..... that band with the Soundgraden singer and RATM blokes .... jaysus , my mind's gone blank ....

... which is probably the fault of those two bands ... I'm f.uckin suing
