i have adds blocked in firefox however in some cases the spaces where the adds should be located are filled with blank gray, is there anyway to collapse these windows/boxes? Thanks in advance.

Chances are that the pages are designed with a space left for the ads

well that goes without saying it is just that sometimes it loads up a default square add block when it is supposed load a rectangular block, and this distorts the page layout. also some add blocks collapse and some don't.
