Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I went to see Troy a few days ago and at long last, after years on going to cinema in Dublin and usher finally went to a group of rowdy lads and told them to shut it.
I have only ever seen them do this with kids about 10 years old and eeven then its a token effort.

I was impressed with him to say the least. Long may it continue.
It could be to do with the fact that for the last few years i have been gong to see movies in UGC where they have no comprehension or keeping order in the cinema. If its not people talking on mobiles it gangs of teenagegirls talking all through a movie.

This time i went to Santry. Go on Santry staff .. :)

I wish the rest of the country's cinema staff would follow suit!

ive told many a child to shut up, adult too. in fact i kicked a group of ten teens out of "something has gotta give" although to be fair the film would probably be more punishing.

    Fair play to you.
I wish more cinemas would do this

Cinema in my area does this all the time (albiet, I'm from Fermanagh, we only have 1 cinema here), seen peopel kicked out for not listening when they were told to shut up too, needless the say the ones left of that group promptly shut up :)

I remember a bunch of scangers were shouting and one of them threw a twix finger at us from the back row. Finally, they got thrown out. Bastids.

Also when I saw jackass, whenever anyone came into the cinema to sit down, they would hurl abuse at them. I didn't think scumbags even had the motivation to go see a film!

maybe they should have a tip service for ushers when leaving so if they keep the skangers quiet they will be tipped. (I def would)

You can throw M&M's at people in the street, and it doesn't cost you the price of a cinema ticket.

UGC is brutal for maintaining order in their cinemas.Which is a shame. Fantastic place. I went to see Troy on saturday with my g/f and we were 3 rows from the back - and center(ish), when the film starts and there's these little 17/18 year old skangers talking. So I'm gritting my teeth for 10 minutes before turning my head to the side and glaring back. They shut up for a few mins, then started again. My g/f did the 'sssh' thing a couple of times, until one of them started (in her little high-pitch skanger accent) ' Did she just tell me to sssh? Did she just tell me ...', at which point my g/f turned right around, looked at her and went "Yes!! Now shut up!!" :D

They don't know how to react when you call their bluff

this was when i was 12, It would'nt be cool these days having people saying, "I think that guy with the five o clock shadow threw a malteser at me"

Or it wouldn't be cool people saynig, "I think that fu*king tosser threw a malteaser at me and now I'm going to punch him." Although I can see the outcome might be amusing.
And no I never felt the need to misbehave like a little brat at 12 either.

I always wondred why people payed money to hurl abuse at people in cinemas.

One of those great mysteries of the world i guess.

Feck, here in Galway I got into a fist fight in the cinema...

Bunch of skangers were talking very, very loud, I roared at them to SHUT THE **** UP, and it seemed they did at first, but a few seconds later I got a punch in the back of my head for my troubles with a "Don't you fecking tell me to shut up ya queer!" I stood up and slugged him in the stomach, then gave him a nice punch in the face, and shoved him over...

They were deathly silent after that, I can tell you...

Other than that, never really had much trouble in the cinema, but I was very amused when I roared at these young kids who were giving their 'Commentary' on the film, and there was clapping! Hehehe :D I was being applauded for telling 'em to shut up! This went to my head, and I was feeling pretty good about it.

As for throwing M&Ms, while I would say you're an annoying little ****head, but as a kid, I'd get those little bangers that you throw on the ground from the joke shop, and hurl them at people's feet on the road, then running! :D
