Theres quite a few threads around here with different dates about people ordering broadband and when they actually got it activated and everything going, so i just wanted a thread where this type of info can be easily found.

    All i wanna know is:
    1) Which isp did you go with?
    2) When did you order it (roughly) and how? (online or by phone)
    3) When was your line activated (roughly)?
    4) How long after or before did ya recieve your modem, router etc..

Thanx for any info ya provide.

A few minutes later Internet came alive (someone must have flicked a swich in head office:rolleyes:).

Ordered off Eircom 3 weeks ago. Line passed test a week ago. Called them 4 times and now Im told it could be 14 days.

I was even understanding enought to try to buy a flat rate dialup for 9.99 to keep me going on the cheap with dialup. They couldnt sell me one because I have no account number yet......transferred to sales to get account number and....

'we cant give that out to you over the phone. will be with you in 3 days '...for a fcuking 8 digit number!!! from a 'phone' company...

all im saying is this better be worth it. 3 months free tho!

I applied to UTV on the June 1st

The person I spoke to said that they are having realt trouble with Eircom, who are doing all of their own direct customers first, and pushing the other carriers customers to the back of the queue. The person I spoke to said that UTV and Esat have both complained about this to Comreg.

Looks like there is gonna be delays all round.

I got an email today from UTV saying my application will take a further 10 working days or more due to the huge demand since the 3 month trial offer.

I just hope after all this my line doesn't fail.

    (2) June 8th, By phone,
    (3) June 14th
    (4) June 14th

My exchange (Fermoy) was only upgraded on the 7th so I am guessing that I was one of the first ports changed over, the other funny thing is that while I was expecting the exchange to go live soon I only found out by accident when showing the line test facility to someone else.

Once I received the DSL modem I plugged it in to the line just to set it up and was amazed that the DSL sync light came on, since then it's been 2Mbit all the way!

Well serialkiller, let me tell you somethng, you are not alone.
I rang them and they said the same thing to me. "We have no recored of you application".

I have now emailed them twice and have heard nothing back.
I am not bothered bout the fact i dont have broadband yet. What bothers me is nobody in there seems to know anything or be able to give people accurate information.
