Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Ok, so esat broadband, need to share connection.
    the plan was to get a router and a wifi card of same company (netgear) and get it running.

    Went to pc world and the guy recommended i just bought a network adapter (PCI card) and setup an ad-hoc connection,
    Laptop has wifi integrate ! he said even thought the companys are different it would still work and since they are both G standard it would work through walls and would work upstairs.

    so i bought Belkin 54g, my laptop has (intersil america) PRISM 3890.
    The belkin can see my laptops signal but my laptop cant see anything ? ive tried everything, ive changed alot of settings, ive called both networks with the same name, changed it to same frequency, AND still nothing.

    so i`m thinking of returning this PCI card and getting a Linksys PCI card for pc and a Linksys PCMCIA card for laptop, that way the integrate wifi can go to hell and they are both of same company,

    so question is, Would that work, through walls and crap(or do i get a router and pcmcia card - because some one posted here before that they got that to share a connection b.w 2 pc`s) both linksys cards will be 802.11g ? the guy at pc world said it would, also i bought this laptop in pc world too around 3 months back.

    Thank you.

    Are you using Ad-Hoc mode? What IP addresses are you using? What Oses are you running in each machine?

    I am using Ad hoc,
    laptop = xp home
    pc = xp pro

    ip adress`s ? when it says add network, i just add the PC`S name. or is it any network name ?

    I don't know much about XP, but whenever I've set up an Ad-Hoc network I've had to specify an IP address on each machine before they could connect - but on re-reading your post again, are you using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)? If you are then I think you don't need to specify them.

    Do the job properly and get a router.

    And never, ever, ever, ever believe anything anybody in PC World tells you. Those pimply little b***ards will tell you anything you want to hear to get a commission.
