I've update those Battlefield Vietnam server links with the most recent v1.01 server. Take a look at the sticky for most recent links. Also BFV v1.02 will be released this week so they will be updated again soon enough. I have also added the Desert Combat linux and windows servers to the list.

Always take a quick glance at the Patches and Mods sticky for a list of every file you will need for Battlefield

    Sweet, how stable are they?

Are there any remote admin tools, or does each server instance have an interactive commandline?

What are the sys requirements for a 16-player '42, DC and 'Nam server respectively?

    http://www.blackbagops.com/bf1942/index.shtml

They have both tools remote and admin for BF and BFV.

And a very easy to understand guide on how to setup and configure the servers with lunix(:D) or windows.

    He pretty much covers everything.

there any word of DC/'42 updates coming out within the next month?

I don't want to get these things configured on 5 machines only to have to piss about again just before the LAN.

Unlikley 42 will be updated again there is a possibility of a map coming whether it contains changes to the code is unknown.

DC again the same there is nothing to suggest there will be a release anytime soon.
Even if there is both are fully playable now and should suffice for the LAN.

IMO set it up as it is now and any changes wont really affect setting up the servers just mean downloading huge patch from heanet (oh the hardships you must suffer ;) )

Those programs dont change they kinda done and will support future versions of DC and 42.

Oh, one more thing, is it neccessary to have an install of the BF1942 game before you "install" the server on a linux machine?
Ie does the server need anything from the game or is everything contained in the .run ?

I know a few games required maps and stuff to be copied over for the dedicated server to work.

The servers are standalone so no files necessary to run the basic game , have you got he black bag ops thing?

    http://www.blackbagops.com/bf1942/cfgguide.shtml

thats his guide to setting up a server, very handy pretty much covers everything.

best thing to do would be to set up a server now on Heanet :D
Then let us test it a lot :)

Also Rev runs the IOL servers PM him if you need some more hands on info. think i gave him this info last year somethime.
