I've heard it, and it's brilliant. I was never a big fan of Slipknot, I only liked a couple of their songs, but this album is a lot different to their other stuff. Best song is Vermilion Part 2 I think, it's one of 2 acoustic songs on the album. It's so weird listening to it, doesn't sound anything like you'd expect Slipknot to! I keep thinking of Nirvana's In Bloom video, when they're in the suits and all, playing stuff that you wouldn't expect people dressed like that to play.

Slipknot are absolutely ****e to say the least, no talent, cant sing they just satisfy the depressed youth they are so so so gay. im goin to cringe seeing them at metallica.

I heard from a friend of mine that its supposed to be good, and its surprising because he hates slipknot and and all nu metal (like myself), so it might be worth a listen.

I'm not much of a Slipknot fan, but I highly recommend this album. Its like a whole new band. Some heavy stuff, some mellow stuff, and a balladic, almost acoustuc song too.

Shut up, or you may find your house burning.... while you take a shower in it.

Have to say I never held anything against Slipknot, over rated by the kiddies, udner rated by the 'true metallers' (:p), mostly poo music, but some excellent stuff, will definately look for this somewhere.

    Excellent Stuff!!
Rick Rubin did a great job, you can tell all the guys were free to do anything they wanted, and were not held back by the usual nu-metal formula of how to do things.

    Buy this CD!!!!:D

ive heard a few tracks from it, pretty good actually.
Vermilion Part 2 is really awesome.

the most important thing tho - solos.
ive only heard the one on 'pulse of the maggots' properly, and it sucks big time. no doubt the guy can shred, but he shouldnt be allowed to.
contenter for most pointless guitar wankery of the year ?
the rest of song is pretty standard slipknot, not bad i guess.

personally i wouldnt waste the money on it, but ill definetly get a copy from someone :p

So you haven't heard the new album, no?

And I also take it that you believe that gay people are crap musicians. Elton John was never too bad I must say.

as i see to be the only big slipknot fan on these forums,
    i'll give you my opinion:

i was captured by there live performance on their dvd disasterpieces(not wait and bleed) and actually i hated slipknot before that.

when i first heard pulse of the maggots, i thought this was going to be a good album, i loved the solo, heavy riff, improved drumming,

then heard duality, i knew slipknot had lost it. (which every1 here likes)
only thing i liked about it was the drumming which joey cant lose,

    then i bought the album,
    listened to it,
and i realised that MKFR, self-titled how great albums they were,
and also realise the intense heaviness of iowa,

i hate this album, except the solos

it sounds like a system of a down album probaly because of rick rubin, but
i dont blame them for leaving ross robinson

anyway if you like system go for it.

now i cant wait for the comments and questions

I've heard the song Pulse Of Maggots, and I thought it was absolute piss-poor ****e.

I thought they were a terrible band to begin with, and they're still a terrible band.

Shouldn't it be Slipknot - Volume 4? Why does everybody forget their first album?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 973 ✭✭✭ThrAx

That wasn't a studio album. Slipknot obviously don't want to confuse their lesser informed fans.

ah i got it, honestly dont all the songs sound the same, even from the start,
same as IOWA, first one was the only decent album.
I'm not huge into then but I'm gonna watch them at MetallicA.
    go get FSOP- LP.

The songs don't all sound the same.... How could Vermilion Pt 2 and Pulse of the Maggots possibly sound the same to you?

cause theyre both ****?? (sorry couldnt resist:p)

in fairness the album isnt that bad.... that Vermillion Pt2 song is dire tho...
i dont like the stop-gap riffs that they constantly emply for the whole album.

open all your songs in some player and play one for a few seconds and move on to the next one, except around 2-3 the rest sound the same from the start anyway.
As for the rest of the songs eg : The Blister Exists, i fall asleep/

    Buck.. its well worth it...

i am listening to metal since 1986 and when i first heard all the hype about slipknot i was totally anti 'knot. simply cos of the stuff i had hear "about" them and not "from" them, i was being like that member " I am MAN" and judging them all wrong... they were a band my little cousin and his nu-metal mates all listened to, so i was ignorant to them....

    BUT i 100% admit i was wrong...
they are actually very very good, their drummer Joey is amazing and has influenced my drumming more in the last 6 months than anyone in my 13 years of drumming with metal bands!!

they are great musicians and im well lookin forward to seeing them in Dublin next week :):):) (get the album)

    later
    Macker

Always did like Slipknot and I've been listening to metal for the last 20 years roughly. I went over to see them in England a couple of years ago but the gig was re-scheduled due to the whole "9/11" thing:(
It's definately a case that a lot of so called "true metallers" won't admit to liking them for fear of what others will think because they are new metal-ish. Then some truthfully just don't like them. I thought the first album was pretty kick ass and the second one had it's moments but 2-4 of the tracks weren't great, as I result I was a bit hesitant to buy the new one. I was going to go to Metallicrap just to see Slipknot but then decided against it as I don't want to give the headliners the money:mad:

    Hehe, Metallicrap. :D
