Harddisk consistency check, Broke???

    When i boot up my pc it freezes up after windows xp splash screen and then i get BSOD followed by a reboot.
    Then when it reboots it tries to do an integrity chech on my hard disk (maxtor 80gig sata), it used to do that at least it just gets stuck at the start.
    I managed to copy the entire discs contens to another hd and since then it refuses to work, wont boot into windows either unless i disconnect the drive.
    Should i bring it back to the shop as it's only 6 months old?

    Run the utilies that came with it ,SMART and the like if you dont have the disk download it from whoever makes your disc, it will tell you whats up.
