I knew it was there, in much the same that I know Russia exists, but I knew nothing about it. I had no intention of looking through them for a "Newbie FAQ" or "New Members…

I had no intention of looking through them for a "Newbie FAQ" or "New Members reed dis plz" type thing.

But I do think the stickies on that forum (here) are very very good. When a new member is signing up they should be presented with a pretty damn evident link with bells and whistles and flashing neon lights and arrows and hands pointing to that board.

If you get what I mean It would help an awful lot of them out as they get into their boards.ie pants and begin to regret the rest of their internet lives

Yes some prominence should be given to the forum for people who have just signed up.

Reminds me to add a help icon to the main page.

How come when i click on that link is says http://boardsie.dyndns.org/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?forumid=98

but if i navagate via the drop down menuses it brings me to

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?forumid=98

Some places of business seem to be under the daft impression that using boards.ie during work is a frivilous pursuit, and costs them money. Clearly they are delusional, as boards is an invaluable tool, but nevertheless, they use filters to disallow people from accessing www.boards.ie.

So some nice friendly people have set up alternative URLs where people can access the boards.ie we all know and love, such as the one above.

Ah yes - you've caught me I just copied and pasted the link from the browser - I often forget that I'm not actually on boards.ie

My oh my, dyndns.org really is a great way to get around websense

The last 2 places i've worked both had websense, and both blocked www.boards.ie but not muppet.boards.ie
