Pat schteps down as president of the parliament, no doubt because Bertie cut him a deal in re: the EU Commission presidency or commissionership to keep Gerard in Luncheon Vouchers in Brussels.

Gerard got booted out and Pat is left high and dry since Bertie started to nod and wink at the EU heads of state when the job of President of the Commission was mentioned for himself.

Simon Coveney wont step down to provide Pat with a nice By Election opportunity in Cork.

So what happens to Pat now ?
