Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What exactly do I need to buy to avail of wireless surfing on my laptop?

    Just bought a new laptop, and want to avail of a wireless internet connection. Not a wireless network, no network at all, and its 56k.

    Do I just need a wireless card thingy and a wireless access point thingy that plugs into the fone socket?

    My lappie has wireless 1350b/g built in, so i think i dont need to buy a card yoke???

    So I just need an access point yoke, then??
    Is this corrrect. Can anyone reccommend what to buy? Keep it cheapish. Thanx!

    That's brilliant! Just one question - what is wireless 1350b/g?!

    If "1350b/g" is compatible with everyone else's Wi-Fi standards (generally referred to as 802.11a/b/g), you will need a WAP (wireless access point) with a 56K modem connection - rare, but I believe they do exist.

    Hey TOmk,

    "Dell Wireless 1350 802.11b/g 54Mbps Mini-PCI Wireless Card" is what exactly it says on the spec of my machine. It is compatabile with every one elses Wi-Fi.

    Theres a 56k modem in the lappie too.

    SO i just need the Access point then?

    Yeah, just the AP. This is the only one I know of with a 56k modem built in. Buffalo used to do one as well, but I think it's been discontinued.

    Well, thats a bit expensive. Why would I need one with a 56k modem built into it, when i have a 56k modem on the lappie?

    Am i understanbing this properly.

    because it would defeat the purpose of the AP/WiFi if you had to plug your laptop into the phone line anyway......

    You've too options
    AP with a 56kmodem
    or some old pc to dialup with a wireless card in it and connect the too(for a decent chance of this working card for pc should be same make as one for lappy...so in a dell integrated case..check the chipset i spose)
