Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I dimly recall saturated meaning that the carbon atoms used each link to bind to a hydrogen atom rather than binding to another carbon atom.

Saturated = when there are only single bonds between the carbon and hydrogen atoms.

The first fatty acid contains no double bonds between carbon and hydrogen atoms therefore is saturated.

The double bond in the unsaturated molecule is highlighted in green.

Animal oils tend to have higher levels of saturated fat and this solidifies at room temperature.

Vegetable oils tend to be liquid at room temperature due to the higher levels of unsaturated fat.

Animal fats are more harmful for human consumption as a result.
