National Champs

    Hi all just a thread to let you all know that the national championships are being held next weekend (the 26th and 27th). Dun Laoghaire archers are hosting it and you book in with Joe Malone (01 2802361). They are holding two FITA rounds, the first day is just a regular shoot and the second day is the championships. The only thing is if you want to win the title you have to shoot full FITA ( 90m, 70m, 50m, 30m) im not sure if they will be running short metric etc. on the 2nd day you'll have to ring up to find out.

    Im guessing Keith Hanlon in recurve(but only cos I wasnt there....next time Hanlon, next time.....), Mark Swords in compound, and Jackie Bowles / Sinead Cuthburt / Maire Cuthburt / Ciaran Bolger in the ladies.

    can i go on record as saying that i think FITA rounds are unfair to decide the nationals... olympic rounds make it fairer for every one and adds a little bit excitement into an already very boring sport.
    now, of course keith hanlon won the recurve, joe malone won the compound. in the ladies sheila cusack came 1st (sin came 3rd and i came 4th) and ruth hung won the compound. and mairead and shane halpin won the juniors. not sure of the 2nds and 3rds in the gents, Sorry!!
    the 1st dat was cancelled cause the wind kept knocking the butts down. there was some sun on the sunday but it was cancelled out by the gusty wind that changed direction every 10 mins or so!! and we also had a few showers.. needless to say all the scores were a little bit crap!

    Mark Swords didnt win the compound? Jeebus did he shoot crap or did Joe have a good day?

    Didn't he pull outta an international even not too long ago cause he felt he wasn't on form?

    Maybe he's finding it hard to get form or something.

    Last outdoor season he pulled out of the World Champs in New York, as he had got a bad case of target panic. I heard he had got over it since, maybe im wrong. Or Joe just had a *really* good, day, the dude can pull off some amazing things out of the blue.
