    Hi muppets.

Would there be a point in trying to organise a poker night (possible newbie content) in the Galway area? I live in north Galway, but could provide a venue. Anyone either completely virgin (like me) or experienced interested? Is there a session already running that I haven't heard about?

There is only so much playing with yourself one can tolerate (pun intended).

We could have it at a weekend, and some of the muppets from Dublin could pop down.....

    I call ROAD TRIP!!!
One weekend, train up and down (so we can play cards on it, of course!) more poker then is possible for a body to handle. Just not between 10th and the 24th July... I'm on hols :)

I'd be interested over the summer and maybe come September.

I know nothing about the rules, and would be using sexual favours instead of chips, but it sounds like a bit of craic.

Dude, get the train. It's very hard to play hold 'em when driving. Some might say it's even dangerous. Pussies.

Count me in. Not the bank holiday - Trains be packed... we'd be lucky to get a square foot in the toilets to play craps in

yeah BH might not be the best idea (also I probably have to work it :( ) but August is only a few weeks away and sound like a good plan to go during it. Alternatively we could go early July? Might be rushing it. Would be a laugh to go on the road with all you reprobates.... bagsie not the seat beside henbane!!

I dunno. I think he's afraid that one of these drunken poker sessions you're going to puke on him. Fair enough really.

August is good. Road trip is good.

If we can firm up on a date, I'll provide the venue. Be warned, it's in the sticks in north Galway. I'm about 9 miles west of Tuam, 4 miles east of Headford.

I'm not walking distance to ANYTHING. But I am a 15 minute drive to beer, fast food and donkey porn.

I could accomodate 7 comfortably, 10 at a push. Beer yes. Smoking in house no.

I have a table and chairs that will easily hold 8 people at a session. Room is not an issue.

M50 to my house is a sub-three hour trip. Directions provided.

    Well?

I fucking love the train idea. I think we should just spend a weekend on trains boozing and playing poker.

Actually fuck. No smoking on trains any more. Screw that. Lets get a plane over to Scotland and get a train to lands end playing poker and boozing all the way. That'd be sweet.

What about a ferry trip. Some of the ferries are way coo and have a lot to do on them if we nned a break from poker. Maybe a trip to France or some other far away land.

Train to Galway - Bank Holiday weekend = madness!
The last weekend of the Galway Races? Getting a seat? Yeah right! And if you're coming down that weekend to gamble, for God's sake go to the races!! Being from Galway (though based in Dublin now), the local papers every year mention of 'high-stakes' poker games played by the big shots in the fancy hotels. Rent out a suite in the Radisson and go crazy!

Now that sounds like a plan.

Middle of August sounds OK. 8 people is not a problem. 10 would be a comfortable upper limit, but there will be sleeping bags involved.

Getting people from the train station (either Galway or Athenry) to the house shouldn't be a big problem.

    Dates?
