Breaking news and I have no English source but it appears that the British Olympian and World Time Trial Champion has been caught for the illegal use of EPO and is currently in police custody with a full admission of the abuse.

This is clearly a massive blow to the sport and to Britains Sporting Federations, Millar was considered a massive star of the future and had already worn yellow in the tour as well as winning last years World Time Trial Race.

The Tour organiser Jean-Marie Leblanc has said that Millar will not be allowed to participate in this years Tour. His Cofidis team will be there because they have qualified but Millar is not allowed. Leblanc said something about being tired of hearing about riders being caught cheating and that riders implicated in doping would not be allowed ride in le Tour.

Ever since Gauomont gave his account of what was happening within Cofidis Ive been waiting for Millar to be implicated in this. It comes as no surprise I think, although there have been no official comments yet.

Latest update on this story is that David Millar has been placed under formal investigation.

The current World time trial champ was interviewed by a judge for 2 hours and then placed under formal investigation for possessing dangerous substances.

A big factor might be that the police reportedly found used packages of Eprex in his home when they searched it, after taking him into custody. Eprex is the most common brand of EPO.
