Actually, the cheapest is an 0818 carrier not an 13nnn one.

8.2c a min from Land to Mobile on weekdays and as low as 1.26c a min at the weekend, all on a bog standard Eircom line. No account necessary. Soem international destinations are ridiculously cheap at the weekend as well..... 1.26c a min to France US and many EU fixed line destinations.

33c a min to porn dialler countries lads :D

That is amazing. The world (well, the bigger countries) at local call rate.
How can they offer calls to Irish mobiles at prices as low as one would normally expect them to be?

What's the catch?!! I just tried them calling UK and it worked great.

I noticed the following small writing "Destinations in green are our special limited edition SUPER deals!". All the Green destinations are the 1890 numbers. Perhaps they will swap this for a more expensive access rate once they have enough customers.

A small catch is that when you dial their access number (1530/1890/0818 - depending on the destination of your call) you are charged as soon as you connect to that number - then you dial your destination number and wait for someone to pickup. However - if there is no answer from the person you are calling then you are still charged the cost of the call.

    From their FAQ:
When do call charges take effect?

When you dial a Telestunt access number you will be charged from the moment you are connected to our service. However, should your call not be answered, you will get a message from our operator and you will be disconnected. Your call should not take more than two minutes.
However, it still looks like an interesting offer...

O2 have blocked the 1890 number!

They say that Telestunt have not reached an agreement with them about using it, so it's blocked.

Anyone on Vodafone tried it? I am considering changing networks anyhow.

Something else small that I noticed when using the service, if you ring a mobile from a landline - say 012223334 - then the number that appears on the mobile as being the caller is +4435312223334.

Could be blocked out by O2 or in from mobiles by Telestunt.

Are they allowed do this? We are paying them for a service, they shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose what numbers we can dial.

As a consumer using a Network with Significant Market Power you should not be prevented from dialling any 1890 or 0818 number solely on the whim of the operator . FFS these people charge 30c a minute to ring an 1890 number, where does it go ?

That is a grossly anti competitive practise.

Escalate to supervisors in Oh Pooh and Voodoofone to get the corporate excuse.

Then email info@comreg.ie and ask them to investigate this gross abuse of SMP

(Meteor do not have SMP as they are too insignificant at present.)

O2 say, they are not blocking the numbers, but the numbers are not accessible, because they have no agreement with telestunt.

How does telestunt earn money from a customer using one of their 1890 or 0818 numbers? Because they have an agreement with Eircom, where they get a certain cut from what the customer pays Eircom for ringing this number? So it would make sense they'd need something similar with the mobile operators?

    Fecking assholes!

I just called them and was told that they don't block any 1890 numbers.

Time for an email to their customer care dept, then comreg.

Do you not think it makes sense to contact Telestunt first to see if O2 etc are in fact correct when it comes to an agreement?

I think those 0818 numbers are special, but my CPS provider gives me local call rates to national numbers so it should presumably be even cheaper than Eircom.

Go easy! It's only people in the customers department.

What about the issue that an agreement may indeed be necessary?
It is not possible to ring Telestunt, it seems?

It is a COLT 1890 number, Telestunt are their customer (not a carrier as such)

Do ask Comreg why this COLT number is not available from O2 and Vodafone . Telestunt cannot technically block it from mobiles although COLT can .

    From http://www.comreg.ie/numbering/num_nat_num_results.asp

    STD / Access Code : 1890
    Specific Number : 943123
    Licensee : All
    Location : All
    Designation : All

STD / Access Code Start Range End Range Licensee Location Designation Status
1890 943000 943999 Colt Not Applicable Shared Cost Timed Allocated

A separate query displays all the COLT 1890 number blocks

1890 719900 719999 Colt Not Applicable Shared Cost Timed Allocated
1890 943000 943999 Colt Not Applicable Shared Cost Timed Allocated
1890 944000 944999 Colt Not Applicable Shared Cost Timed Allocated

Try dialling 1890 944 944 it actually works from O2 and is a COLT number too !
