"George Kidd, the director general of ICSTIS, said: "We know high tariffs are particularly attractive to those intent on wrongdoing. We will only move on the trial [of new higher premium rate charges] when we are sure the right safeguards are in place."

Eircom charges €3.60 a minute for Porn Dialler calls with no safeguards such as limiting the call duration to 25 mins max, as ICSTIS would demand....and Comreg refuses to acknowledge the existence of these Super Premium numbers in Ireland.

Can we have a new regulator please :ninja:

Article in the Sunday Times on the dialler scam

It's a funny reversal of roles. David Hewson recommends to hand over the issue from the lame UK Premium Service Provider regulator ICSTIS to the regulator with teeth OFCOM:"Why not hand all this over to a watchdog with teeth, such as Ofcom? Dialler scams aren’t dodgy marketing but fraud that will, if unchecked, make sensible people wonder whether it is worth going online at all."
Here we have an industry owned, but rather effective premium service regulator RegTel and a toothless ComReg.
