    A large number of rail commuters face disruption this weekend as Iarnród Éireann confirmed that the Limerick/Ennis railway line will remain closed for the next couple of days.

    Spokesperson Clíona Ní Fhatharta says bus transfers between Ennis and Limerick have been put in place.

    The line was closed because of damage to a bridge at Cratloe, Co Clare.

    The bridge was damaged by a truck this afternoon, forcing Iarnród Éireann to cancel train services on the line.

    Clare County Council also closed the road at Cratloe, and council and railway engineers were assessing the seriousness of the damage to the bridge.
