Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fred has a problem

Little head wrecker to ponder over...

Four people involved, let's say, Fred, Barney, Peter and Bob.

Fred finds out Peter is up to something. He knows that this could possibly get his friend Barney (among others) into hot water, but he's required not to tell anyone. Normally, he'd tell Barney anway (and tell Barney to keep it to himself), since they're mates, so Barney could avoid getting into said hot water. Anyway, he'd expect Barney to do the same for him.

The problem is, even if Barney was told not to say he knows, Barney's the sort of chap that in the pub would tell Bob, his best mate. This is where it gets complicated. Bob could also get into trouble from this, and Bob's the sort of person who'll throw a ****ing massive wobbler at anything, and would confront Peter, getting everyone into a lot of trouble.

So, Fred has a problem. He has two options.

    a) Say nothing. Barney may/may not get into trouble, but either way, will be very angry at Fred once he finds out (and he will) that Fred knew all along.

    b) Tell Barney. Barney will more than likely tell Bob. Run the risk of Bob shouting his mouth off.

What would you do, if you were Fred?

Say nothing. If Barney did something he shouldn't have then he can't blame anyone for the sh1t hitting the fan but himself.
Fred should sit back and wait for the fireworks :)

    Kill Peter.

It's not a case of ratting on anyone, it's just giving a friend a heads up on something that he can easily avoid.

It's true though, but what Peter is doing isn't to catch people like Barney, but I know that Barney would have occaisonal 'blips' that might show up :) If I warned Barney, he could avoid the blips ;)

You may be right, Jor el. It's probably not worth it.

    Thanks for the suggestions, folks.

Well, except for YDEHS - Get some help!
