Quicklaunch problem

Quicklauch icons have started disappearing on me recently. Ill reboot, and therelll be no quicklaunch icons beside the start menu. Ive gone to Taskbat->show quick launch menu, but when i reboot, this has reset to unticked! Does anyone know how to fix this, its really annoying... Thanks!
