Has anyone who posted here with a technical type query ever solved thier troubles with advice given here?

I ask only cos many ppl post but almost no-one ever replies at a later point saying someone here had helped them.

I've read a few threads where advice has been given for different "squeeks" and long discussions on tyres and different types of cars and the like

but when it comes to an actual problem for instance say a bushin or something like that was gone, you'd really need to see the car to be able to give advice, giving advice here is just really stabbing in the dark i think...although it may be correct.

People here are more than helpful when asking for advice on changing your car or getting a new one, even modding it or just changing the stereo

    just what i think

If you head over to a proper motoring forum such as http://forums.motornet.ie you'll get all the advice and technical help you'll ever need. A couple of people from here have made the move and benefited.

I don't think it's a place where people really serious questions like valve clearances, home repair etc.

You'd be better posing a question on a board that specifically deals with a particular manufacturer or model.

If I had any specific queries i'd usually post on Eurocarparts Forum, there might be someone there that dealth with the same problem on a specific model, bit too general here for anything too technical.

Yip theres some great forums out there for technical questions. I used to use Roadfly when i had a BMW and found it excellent, the guys there solved alot of my problems with it. It will really show you how troublesome BMW's are when you browse through the forums. I reckon people mainly come here for a general chat rather then trying to find an answer to some fairly technical question.
