Does anyone know of a shop either in Dublin or Cork (or indeed anywhere) that I could lay hands on smoked paprika powder. I'd heard about it and would love to try cooking with it.

Bump, no need for a new thread.

I can't find this anywhere? Has anyone seen it? I can only seem to get normal paprika.

Yup M&S and Tesco do their own brand. I think I prefer the M&S, it's smokier. The Tesco is nice but it's quite hot.

Wow - my original thread from nearly 6.5 years ago! I cook regularly with smoked paprika now - glad to see that it's much more readily available than back then.

I have this in the cupboard but I've never used it. Just curious what dishes you guy's use it in?

    Stroganoff, goulash and various marinades.

I love it in muhammara, and use it in some Hungarian stews as well for a change from the various Hungarian paprikas, and also in marinades.

There's a Hungarian shop on Parnell street (at the bend toward the junction with King street north) which has different sorts of paprika and pastes for goulash

I sprinkle a little over a bowl of homemade hummous. A nice change and looks lovely! :)

Also found in the local tesco - cooking section. Seems new, they have a great range.

If you try any shops that specialize in Indian/Asian cuisine.
I have a spice and halal point just across the way from work and they sell every spice under the sun!

I had a conversation about this the other day and how hard it is to find it as I've been looking for it for about six months. Been looking for it for so long that I can't remember why in the first place I wanted it. :o

    Tesco definitely do it.

I saw it in Sligo's branch yesterday.

They stopped stocking the Old El Paso Jalapenos and bam I found them in brine beside the paprika!

I live in Sligo, all I'm getting is a clothes shop in Dublin called Avoca when I google it..

Is Avoca a food specialist store?
