Have a lot of taxi drivers screwed up their headlights by wiring the sign wrong? Lots of them seem to have one or other head light barely showing.

Could it be that because the vehicles cover so many miles you just notice a lot driving around with a blown headlight bulb?

As the majority of modern European cars have the parking lights in the headlight assembly, maybe you're just seeing the result of a dud bulb rather than a dim headlight as such.

No, it's a lot more than that - its like 15-25% of taxis.

The wiring for the roof sign shouldn't be going anywhere near the headlight wiring, so I doubt its that, unless they all went to the same person to get the wiring done, and that person isn't very bright (very bad pun intended :D )

They probably all buy their cheapo bulbs in the same place, rather than getting their signs wired up at the same place... :D

Then again, potholes and the like probably take their toll on headlights as well... And it's not as bad as assholes driving around with their front fogs on, but hey, that's another thread.
