i'm currently playing through GTA III for the second time and would like to get 100%
i've completed all the missions marked on the radar, 63/73 missions
15 rampages and unique jumps and 75 hidden packages

question is, for anyone that has completed it fully, at this stage, did you wander around aimlessly looking for more missions/rampage/jumps or did you look through a guide?

i don't want to spoil it by reading a guide, but theres a fair chance theres gameplay to be had that i'll never find by chance

    Just wandered around mainly.
Never did get 100% though, cos I could never do Gripped. Most stupidly difficult mission they could have imagined.
Oh, I think I might have looked at a guide to get the last one or two packages aswell.

Just get the vigilante, taxi, fire brigade and paramedic missions over and done with first because they are pretty boring.

thats what i was planning, cause at least i can find them, i wasn't sure if they counted to the overall % though
i suppose you need level 6 on each to get the full %age?

IIRC, level 12 on each. look at gamefaqs.com to see a "100% list"

Same here at that stage though I was well bored of the game:), as for the packets you can get them all by just wandering around....that's what I did ( well my sis did get a fair few herself too :D ).

i know where to get 100% guides but i want to try to find more stuff first
    up to 77% now
level 12 damn, i thought getting 5 in a row was pretty difficult, taxi keeps getting wrecked

what do you have to do in Gripped?

You have to get 100 taxi fares to complete the Taxi mission.
Not consecutivley, but the more you do in a row the more money you make.
And you should know where all the spray shops are to get the taxi fixed. The middle island is the easiest one to do the taxi jobs on IMO.

Level 12 Fire and Vigilante aren't that hard to reach. Level 12 Paramdeic is a real pain in the ass though.

    Gripped you have to
drive through checkpoints in the Humvee. Except you have to drive up a bloody cliff to do it and it's awkward as hell. Most of the time I end up flipping the humvee and that means you have to bail and of course fail the mission.
It's on the third island near your base.

Spoilered just in case there is anyone that plans to play the game and still hasn't.

paramedic is certainly the one i've been playing to do last, the ambulance just begs to be tipped over
does anyone else think vehicles in gta have far too much weight attached to the roof? (they always land upside down and burn-explode)

i was doing the taxi on the third island because theres only one place were you get shot at
though the layout is pretty tricky, i was doing ok

i know where the spray shops are, but against the clock its hard to race away to one when it won't let you pick up a fare

It's actually better to do it before you do any missions. The *easiest* place to do it is in the Saint Marks area of the first island - but once the mafia are against you it's not worth it.

The small extra missions are always easier to do *before* you do the main missions. I had to do the donkey porn mission with the mafia guys shooting the crap out of me TOUGH:dunno:.

heh il regret this what does the donkey pr0n mission involve?

yeah, i just did that myself, not too easy
but it adds a bit of extra challenge which isn't too bad if you're good at the game

i've just reached 100 fares in the taxi mission, do you get anything extra other than money if you do 100 in a row?
i'm on 81 and can easily do another 19, but its so boring, i dont wanna do it unless i get something good
staunton island is far easier than shoreside

the donkey porn mission is where you have to drive around portland and collect parts of donkey does dallas for el burro
basically checkpoint driving with a time limit

the mafia are already against me, so portland is out, and im not starting from scratch :)

When you do 100 taxi fares you get rewarded with the borgnine taxi - its a red taxi parked at the taxi place near head radio on the first island. Its fairly fast and hard as nails :)

It will keep respawning there too.

i already had a total over 100, but i got to 98 in-a-row, when some bastard turned suddenly at a junction as i was overtaking, i went straight into a building (and sure enough) ended up on the roof, had to bail

i hope they fix the driving in the next gta, when you do a mission where you cant damage the car you see how crappy the driving is, the swervey right before they turn left, they dont indicate, they change lanes back and forth rapidly to piss you off and cut in front of you suddenly when you're going far faster than they are, they dont really stay in their lane properly either

I managed to get 100 taxi missions in a row :D nothing spectacular, just more money...

Donkey Porn...very tasty...it's an easy mission, just watch where you're going!
Paramedic is easy enough to do once you've done it once...I completed it in GTA3 and went onto Vice City and did it with no bother at all. Just try and pick up the farthest away people first, more chance of a higher time score. It's the first thing you should do before any missions, as even if the Triads are against you it makes it sooo much harder.
Also in case you missed it don't forget Marty Chonks's missions- ya can get them at the payphone at the Bitch'n Dog Food plant (right beside where you do Joey's missions). It's during a certain time of day...just wait for it to start ringing.

Donkey Porn mission isn't that easy if the Mafia are after you. It doesn't take many shotguns shots to blow you up.
But that happens so often and you end up doing it so many times it becomes simple because you know exactly where to go.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,935 ✭✭✭eyerer

maybe i was lucky, but on that mission they didn't use shotguns, only pistols (still did a lot of damage)
outside of that mission they always blow me away with shotguns

after 100+ taxi drives and 110 fires in a row i couldn't be bothered with any more of that crap
i did 6 vigilant missions and theres no way i'm doing another 94 of them, and the paramedic missions are diar, 12 in a row - no chance, i struggle to get past 3, can't even get the thing repaired either

i heard that phone ringing down at joeys and was wondering what it was for, i haven't actually seen the thing and i didn't know there were missions there

    up to 78%

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,188 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

I did 600 Vigilante missions in Vice City in the Hunter - my money clocked over 9999999999...all nines anyway. I must have been bored!

With the Vigilantie and Firefighter ya have ta do 20 missions on each island, totaling 60 fires and 60 criminals- ya get the Flamethrower for finishing Firefighter and a police bribe every 10 criminals. Trust me, it's worth it! Sure thats how I get tanks sure!
Also complete the Import/Export Garage thingies...a bit tedious but once ya finsh them ya can choose any of the cars you put in! Also near the Portland Import/Export is the one for Emergency Vehicles (Squad Car, FBI Car, Rhino [tank], Ambulance, Firetruck, and Barracks OL [can get one up at the army surplus guys place, the one ya helped out who has one arm]). Same as above, once ya get all of 'em ya can choose to take out any, so unlimited tanks!!!!:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,188 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

and with the tanks, turn the turret around and fire, it makes it quicker to get to your target...

aye, it's well worth making a list of all the cars you need for the import export garage. if you ever see a mr. whoopie ice cream van driving around, jack it and take it to the i/e garage in portland docks.
the second i/e garage is on shoreside vale, a far easier list to complete tbh.

Isn't this meant to be GTA 3 100% chat, how did we start talking about Vice City exactly?

you'd better pm the mod... people like that don't deserve their posting rights!

Personally I don't care all that much I will happily talk about either game here. Just makes for a confusing thread when you come in expcting one thing & get something else.

i've already done both import/export garages, just need the tank for the second part in the docks
wish someone had told me it was 20 on each island, i did 110 fires on staunton and got nothing except severe boredom

next time i play a GTA game i'll have to do this stuff first, so i can actually use the flame thrower and bribes when playing through the missions, they're pretty useless now, except for the odd genocide :)
