Thursday is unlimited €10 rebuy with no initial buyin. Tis a good way to learn the basics in a casino atmosphere without losing your shirt or feeling foolish.
btw I think "henbane" was something i was looking for in a druid quest in EQ, think I found it in splitpaw
Tis an 'erb though I prefer to think of myself as a noxious weed. This is what happens when you base your nick on a nonsensical anagram without checking what it might mean.

Just on what you said Dev, I don't get why myself and Ken didn't swap?

It hasn't crossed your mind that perhaps DeV wanted Ken to deal?

I don’t think it has anything to do with you cormie. I’m sure that there were other players there that may have been better dealers than some of us that did deal. We know all the people that deal, we play together on a regular basis. As a result we were fairly sure that the standard, whilst not anywhere near professional, would be reasonable. We also asked in advance to make sure that they didn’t mind dealing and playing. So to re-iterate, I don’t think it had anything to do with you personally it was simply that Ken is a known quantity and it was pre-arranged and we knew he was cool with it.

For us this was a pretty big deal and we were more comfortable with dealers that we knew. Had we let anyone deal and there were any major mess ups people would not be happy. Let me stress again, none of the dealers are pros, but at least we know what they are like.

    I assigned the dealers.

I wanted the dealers to be - where possible - part of the organising team - so that the rest of you didn't have to worry about it.

I know that cormie asked to be dealer but I made the call and that's all there was to it.

I take it then that some people had an issue with Ken dealing - I didn't - in fact I applaud him for taking the responsibility. Afaik there were no issues during the game apart from the perception that the dealing was slow. I took over from Ken and I didn't hear any comments about the standard of dealing.

For me it's a moot issue. Let's start talking about things that will really make a difference - things we have control over

The way we did the dealers was that Chris scanned through the list for each table in turn and looked for a member of the organising team or a mate we could press gang. The first name up got the job. Dont take it personally Cormie, Ken probably just signed up before you! :)

I didn't actually know Ken offered to deal. That's why I was asking about the swap around. He offered first and you know his dealing capabilities and you don't know mine so I understand.

Ken did a great job as dealer. The only problem was his shuffle methods. To his right there seemed to be beginners, but if it had been any of you cnts, I woulda had a bigger problem;)

So I don't think we need pro dealers at all.

What are the rest of your oppinions on a €25 freezeout? What reg fee would be required?

€25 freezeout would be an option. I think with any tournament if we have it in the merrion there'll be a registration. The Merrion needs a cut for the hiring of chips/tables/cards/supervising staff member. They'd obviously prefer the €50 + €5 registration though.

yeah 5 quid a skull seems to be the going rate, after that you can do what you like it seems, we just chose to run a 50 euro comp simply because everyone wanted it...
We could have run 70+7 and pocked 2 quid per person for a whopping 20 notes each but its really not worth the heartache.

the 25 in will probably have a 25 top up too or else its disproportional to the reg fee but we'll see. At least it gives you options...
