Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

long distance wireless network

    hey,

im not so up to speed on wireless networking, espicially long distance ones, so id love if anyone can shed some light onto what items i will need and how to go about it!

    heres my query

im looking to get a wireless broadband signal bounced from its AP to a location i can see, this seems to be feasable and im pretty sure it can be done. The reason for the bounce :D because theres bloddy tree's blocking my LOS and the AP is not at a good angle, im outside of its 60-degree directional LOS

Okay, the AP is located like 50 feet to the left of the location where i am allowed to do what i like to get the signal bounced towards me, but of course all the costings and what not are on my head, which isnt a problem, costings will be covered no matter how much, but i hope it wont be THAT much!

the distance involved is about 3km, probably less as this is going in a straight line, theres one or 2 pics below that might help you guys out but they arent the best pics and dont paint the best picture, in person its much easier to see and recognise

thats about it, can anyone help me out to what would be involved in doing this? as soon as im given some things to read about i can get up to speed rather quickly on them

right i hope u can get the jist of things based on that, the first pic shows where the ap is, its on top of small business office, on the right of that u can see this factory like building which is a furniture store(its big, its brown, u can prolly see the white bit too that has its name/banner), that is the place where i am allowed to put what i need on the roof so as to bounce the signal straight to me, as its perfect los

thanks to anyone that can lend a hand

for 3Km you would need line of sight

one option is to setup something that both ends can see if you have an AP then clients at either end could talk to each other.

many devices can use POE - power over ethernet - so you run one cable to an device up to 100m away where it can see the office..
