Do I get free line rental for this Eircom f*ckup???

    Ok so we got back from holiday to find that the Eircom line travelling through next doors trees had finally worn away and the line was clicky and poppy, giving a ****e Internet connection and an awful voice call experience.

    Rang Eircom last Wednesday. Reported the fault.

    They didnt come Thursday.
    They didnt come Friday.

    Saturday and Sunday dont count.

    They came Monday morning.

    I heard somewhere that unless Eircom come out to fix the fault within two working days, you get free line rental for a bit. Is this true???

    It'd be nice to get a bit of money back from that shower o' bastards. :D

    For the highest line rental fee in Europe we get the crappiest repair service one can think of.
    Compare with the ESB line rental price and their repair service!

    Update :D

    They came on Monday, looked up the pole and the engineer said we'd have to get the line replaced. He couldnt do that himself, they'd have to come back.

    Tuesday: Nothing.
    Wednesday: Nothing.
    Thursday: "We should be out tomorrow to do it. We had to pass it onto another division to sort it out."

    Friday: (Today, 9th)

    Eircom van comes up the driveway.

    "Sorry, we finish work early on Fridays, so we wont be doing it until Monday."

    Update: They came yesterday and put a new wire in. Despite taking 2 hours for lunch, and not coming to the house after it was done, they only took an hour to tie a cable to one pole and string it up to the other through the trees. :D


    Rang the number - no trouble getting the free rental. Person at the other end of the phone seemed used to it.

    Whether they'll 'remember' to take it off the bill is another matter :ninja:
