I am moving out of my current residents and need to terminate line rental and my accounts for FixedRate internet access. This is the method I have used to do so. Will it be effective? Just wondering about the horror stories people have with bill's still ariving in their name after they have long left their premises.

Please note I have had these accounts for just over a year so I will not be caught by been inside minium contract term..

Here is truncated and edited reply to an e-mail, I sent to the companies that I have accounts with.

    Greetings,

RE: Termination of CPS and UTVipXL Internet Access

    Dear UTV,

Please terminate the account for CPS and UTVipXL Internet Access for
reference number 3****4, which is assigned to the telephone number
    021-4****23.

The reason for this request is because I am vacating my current residents on
this premises by the 17th July 04 and I would appreciate if you could cancel
the advance payment due for August on UTVipXL.

Thank you for a very valuable service and I look forward to the possibility
of utilising your broadband service, once I have settled in to my new
accommodation. With this in mind, I would like to retain my current e-mail
account for future use and reference.

Please confirm receipt of this letter and the termination of the account.

    Yours faithfully,

P.S. A blind Carbon of this Mail has been retained by me at another e-mail
for my own records. Failure to terminate my accounts and any future billing
in my name for these accounts will go un paid. Transactions to my Laser card
will not be honoured as I will be closing the associated account in August.

I would follow up your emails with a phone call to both Eircom and UTV.

I would cc the TWO instructions to Bobby Hannon in Comreg ....... their head of Consumer Affairs.

    bobby.hannon@comreg.ie

If you have paid up fully for both services then tell them to cancel all direct debits forthwith and confirm same.

Give them a forwarding (snail)mail address for corespondence ...in case.

Well things at this stage seem to be progressing as I hoped both companies have contact me and have stated that my line rental will cease as requested.
Your request to cease your eircom telephone number on the 160704 is complete, however you will need to contact your service provider......
.... account has been flagged for deactivation and will be cancelled in thirty days time as per terms and conditions of this service .....

I will give both companies a ring on Monday to double confirm this. I will follow up on this if I have any latter trouble. I will hold off on contacting comreg till when If their is any latter disagreement.

I've retained copies of the e-mail's and full header info if the need should arise.

    Regards,
    J.

Not too bad a thread to drag up....

corkie, what address did you mail to get a proper response from eircom (whether they'll carry through is another thing)? Have to do the same myself....

Sorry for not getting back sooner. Using a web cafe, to read and responsed at the moment.

Don't have afforable access at my place of residence at the moment, And as it is temporary for few months. I don't want to get locked into contracts.

I sent the mail from my eircom.net account.

Phone Line was terminated on the date as requested.

And utv confirmed by snail mail.

    Regards,
    J.
